The Cortez Club is in La Paz, Mexico, with diving in the Sea of Cortez and boat access to sites such as Los Islotes, El Bajo – Marisla Sea Mount and Swanee Reef. It teaches in English, Japanese, Spanish and French. It is a PADI 5 Star IDC Gold Palm Resort and a NOM133 Business-certified centre, with diving in La Paz from 1995. Los Islotes lies just half a mile north of Isla Espiritu Santo and is known for sea lions, schooling sardines and coral-covered rock islets, while El Bajo offers a deep seamount dive with schooling hammerhead sharks, whale sharks and giant Pacific manta rays. Swanee Reef reaches 35 feet and includes the wreck of the Salvatierra. The centre also runs whale shark, whale watching, snorkelling and watersports trips, plus PADI courses from beginner to professional dive instructor.
