Martinica
Southwestern Caribbean coast of Martinique between Anse Dufour and Diamond Rock, with more than twenty reef, drop-off and wreck sites for all levels, Martinique's busiest dive area.
The coast of Les Anses-d'Arlet and Le Diamant in southwest Martinique holds the island's densest cluster of dive centres and sites. Operators in Grande Anse, Anses-d'Arlet and Le Diamant dive more than twenty sites between Anse Dufour and Diamond Rock. Calm coves such as Anse Noire, Anse Dufour and Anse Fortune suit beginners, while Cap Salomon, Pointe Burgos and Pointe de la Baleine offer coral gardens, gorgonians, rocky slopes and drift dives. The Nahoon, a three-masted sailing ship scuttled in 1994 as an artificial reef, lies at 35 m off Anses-d'Arlet. Diamond Rock, a 175 m volcanic islet about 2 km off Pointe du Diamant, is Martinique's best-known site, with a 40 m drop-off, rich sea fans and a crack through the rock known as the cathedral. Currents there can be strong. Source: Wikipedia, Divingaway, Alpha Plongée, Martinique Tourism
