Parque Nuevo
Also known as: New Park
Parque Nuevo lies about 400 m off the city beach and can be dived from a boat or from shore with a buoy. It is made of deliberately sunk objects such as car bodies, a boiler, the small wreck Atlantis and a light aircraft called El Pastor de los Abismos. Fish use these objects as shelter, so both reef and sand species are found here. Support platforms stay in place most of the year, which makes it the usual site for introductory dives.
