Soto Trader

Also known as: Soto Trader Wreck

The Soto Trader was an inter-island cargo ship that caught fire while at anchor off Little Cayman and was afterwards towed to the spot where it now lies. It sits upright on a sandy bottom close to a small reef leading towards shore, with open cargo holds that still hold remains of the cargo and a crane amidships. Paradise Divers call it the island's only wreck and mention a large, very shy goliath grouper as well as juvenile and adult spotted drums. A swim across the sand to a nearby coral island can add eagle rays and nurse sharks. The Department of Environment has two mooring pins here in about 35 ft.
