Snark

Also known as: Motor Ship Snark

The ship was carrying wool from Australia to Nouméa when it entered Boulari Pass without a pilot, unaware that the passes had been mined during the Pacific War. Today it is a field of plates and frames in which the engines, cargo booms, rudder and the bow can still be recognised. Schools of fusiliers and barracuda gather at bow and stern, sea snakes hunt in the debris and large stingrays hide under the plates. Swimming from bow to stern and back takes most of a dive, and the shallow middle section with branching corals suits the safety stop.
