Stoney Creek

Stoney Creek lies some 4 km south of Bowen Island and 1.5 to 2 km offshore, unusually far out for Jervis Bay. A reef top in the high 30s drops in a sheer wall past 50 m, with a small ledge at about 45 m. The wall carries sea whips, sponges, sea squirts and gorgonians, and McFadyen calls it probably the best site of Jervis Bay. Visibility is often very good, but currents are nearly always strong and can force a dive to be abandoned. It is dived from an anchor on the reef top or as a drift dive heading south.
