Kame-ne

Also known as: カメ根 (Japanese)

Mikomoto is an uninhabited rock island about 9 km off Yumigahama, washed by the Kuroshio Current. Kame-ne catches complex currents, which bring huge schools of takabe, grunts, amberjack and yellowtail. Green turtles are regular, and with luck a river of more than a hundred hammerheads swims by. All dives are drift dives from a boat, and many shops require at least 50 logged dives. Eagle rays, ocean sunfish and even whale sharks have been reported around the island.
