La Faille
Also known as: The Crack · Djibouti Crack
La Faille is the signature dive of the Ghoubbet al-Kharab, the deep bay at the western end of the Gulf of Tadjoura where the African and Arabian plates pull apart. Divers follow a long fissure in the rock, often described as swimming between two tectonic plates. The crack is lined with caves and tunnels where fish shelter, and the dive finishes over fine hard corals. The anchorage is protected, visibility can be excellent and currents vary. The site featured in a BBC Rift Valley series, though one guide told a visitor the crack is only about half as deep as television suggested.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
