Merak

Also known as: Mystery Tower Wreck

For years the site was known as the Mystery Tower Wreck because the inverted hull hides most identifying features. NOAA archaeologists now consider the wreck to be the Merak, based on its location, size, single screw and rudder fittings. It rests in two pieces about a mile and a half east-south-east of the tower. Dive Hatteras notes average currents of more than two knots here.
