North Dry Rocks

Also known as: Northern Dry Rocks · Key Largo Northern Dry Rocks · Minnow Cave

North Dry Rocks is a compact, shallow reef that two dive centres describe as about 15 feet deep, which makes it suitable for snorkellers as well as divers. Its highlight is Minnow Cave, one of the best known coral caves in the Keys, where clouds of glass minnows hover at the entrance in the filtered light. Groupers and great barracuda are common, and spiny lobsters hide in the crevices. Local dive centres pick it when they want a less crowded alternative to the statue site. The reef holds a small sanctuary preservation area and is marked by mooring buoys with the letter N.
