Cabeço das Cordas

Cabeço das Cordas sits at the far north of the archipelago, next to Cordilheira and Pontal do Norte, inside the Marine National Park. The name recalls the fishing boats that used to anchor here and lose their anchors in rough seas; old anchors with lengths of rope still lie on the bottom. Current is the defining feature of the site and brings schools of jacks, dog snapper and sea chubs, and giant groupers and rock hinds are also reported. Scubago and PlanetaEXO both split it into a shallow section down to about 17 m for basic divers and a deeper section for advanced divers.
