Playground (Norman Reef)

Playground is sheltered by a ledge, which is why Deep Sea Divers Den uses it as the overnight mooring for its liveaboard. Below the boat, small valleys and coral bommies sit on flat sand. Lionfish Bommie, right under the mooring line, is covered in lionfish and glass shrimp and hosts two white-banded cleaner shrimp. Split Bommie lies a little deeper and is known for pipefish and leafy scorpionfish. On night dives, divers hang on the mooring lines and watch reef sharks, a resident Queensland grouper and sometimes eagle rays hunting in the boat lights.
