Machete Caves

Also known as: Machette Caves

Machete Caves lie on one of the outer reefs of Isla Bastimentos and are among the most celebrated dives in the archipelago. The rock is cut by caverns, overhead passages and swim-throughs where sunlight falls through openings in the ceiling. Some of the caves are filled with glassfish. Despite the cave setting the site is shallow, at most about 14 m. It is only reachable in very calm water, normally on seasonal trips between August and November.
