Polredijk
Also known as: Polredijk / Transformatorhuisje
Since 2014 a small car park, benches on the dike and a concrete stair with grids on the lower steps have made the site easier to use. From the car park it is a walk of about 400 metres to the corner of the dike. The shallow part is covered with weed over oysters carrying sea squirts, mussels and anemones, with lobsters, crabs and shrimps around them. Down to about ten metres sand and oyster banks alternate, deeper the bottom becomes silty with less to see, although it continues past twenty metres. Gobies, butterfish, young flatfish and starfish in unusually shallow water are typical finds, and the site is also good for snorkelling.
