Taketomi Underwater Hot Spring
Also known as: 竹富海底温泉 (Japanese) · 竹富島海底温泉 (Japanese) · Taketomi Island UW Hotspring
Several vents at the bottom of the sandy bowl release hot water of around 48 degrees, warm enough to make the sand noticeably hot, and the water smells of sulphur, so divers are told to take off jewellery. The muddy sand around the vents holds many gobies, and a thermocline forms where the warm water meets the sea. Higher up the slope there are large sea fans and healthy coral where divers do their safety stop. It is often chosen as the last dive of the day or to warm up in winter, and for night dives to watch mandarinfish spawn.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
