Middle Book
Also known as: 竹富島南ミドルブック (Japanese) · じゃがいもの根 (Japanese) · 竹富南ジャガイモ (Japanese) · Taketomi South Potato Rock · Taketomi Island Minami Jagaimo-no-ne
The heads are formed by huge colonies of potato-like encrusting coral, which is why the site is also called the potato rock. Anthias, damselfish and bluestripe snappers swarm around them, and in spring broadclub cuttlefish come to lay eggs. The sand between the heads is home to yasha gobies, other prawn gobies and garden eels, often at only 12 to 13 m. The site is named after a Japanese instructor, Mr Nakamoto, whose name means middle book. It has little or no current and is used for beginners and snorkelling.

Vote for the name divers really use. Divers who logged a dive here count double. The votes are counted every night, and the main name only changes when another name has led clearly for a week.
