Sunken Island

Also known as: Takot Shoal

Sunken Island, also called Takot Shoal, is a submerged hill well away from the coast that has to be dived from a boat. Its roughly 80 m wide top starts at around 12 m and is covered in mostly healthy corals with many small fish. Spotted eagle rays and parrotfish are seen, and mackerel hunt sardines over the reef. Older dynamite damage is still visible in places. When the current runs, divers can shelter behind the hill, and SSI rates it a site for more advanced divers.
