Binoongan Marine Sanctuary
Also known as: Bino-ongan Marine Sanctuary
Binoongan Marine Sanctuary was established in 2013 and has a reputation for strong local management, with a women's association helping to run it. It has won awards as the best-managed marine protected area of Siquijor. Divers walk in and swim out to a descent point at 3 to 5 m. Sand alternates with large coral formations, with artificial structures and coral planting spots in the shallows. Turtles, chevron barracuda, snappers, triggerfish and longfin batfish are common.
