Diamant

On the morning of 8 May 1902 the Diamant was arriving from Fort-de-France and tried to turn back as the cloud came down, but it sank almost at once; Wikipedia reports a single survivor, the cabin boy. Its superstructure was wooden and has disappeared, so today mainly the frames are left on the volcanic sand. The open bow is covered in encrusting life and shoals of cardinalfish and sergeant majors swirl around the wreck. It lies about 50 m from the Dahlia, and dive centres usually visit both in the same dive.
