Cod Hole

The Cod Hole is a lagoon site inside Mermaid Reef. Coral walls surround a white sandy floor where reef sharks swim between bommies. It is famous for its resident potato cod, which approach divers closely, although a Dive Planit writer found none there and a guest review on Scuba Diving Earth says the promised big cod never appeared. Bumphead parrotfish, barracuda, trevally and the odd nurse shark add to the scene. Halfway through the dive the current can pick up and turn it into a fast drift.
