Clerke Channel

Also known as: The Channel · Main Channel · The Rollercoaster

Tides of up to five metres push huge volumes of water through the channel of Clerke Reef, turning it into one of the fastest drifts divers report. Depending on the tide, the ride runs from the outer reef into the lagoon or the other way. Schools of snapper, sweetlips and bumphead parrotfish gather along the way, together with whitetip reef sharks and turtles. Snorkellers can join, and visibility of 20 to 30 m was reported.
