La Patate Barracuda
Le Lagon Maoré describes the formation on the north side of the Bouéni pass as about 150 m long and rising to around 12 m, with a sandy plateau beyond 35 m, a second drop-off and a canyon climbing back up towards 15 m. Branching corals attract jacks, snappers, fusiliers and blue triggerfish. With the current come tuna, yellowtail barracuda, the occasional shark and trevally hunting in the shoals. The large school of blacktail barracuda gives the site its name.
