Le Liban

Le Liban was a passenger steamer of the Fraissinet company that sank on 7 June 1903 after being struck by another ship, with heavy loss of life. The 91 m hull now lies broken into several sections near the Pharillons islets at the south-east end of Maïre island, spread over an area about 100 m long. The bow near the Pharillons is still easy to recognise, and the stern and boiler are visible, while the holds are slowly collapsing. Groupers, conger eels, spiny lobsters and moray eels hide in the pipes and plates, and many divers make their safety stops in the nearby arches.
