Shark Island
Shark Island is a lone rock in open sea just north of Koh Sdach, and dive guides describe it as a seamount. Its name comes from the blacktip reef sharks that are regularly seen off the north-west point. Bull sharks and whale sharks have also been reported here. Because it sits far from the coast, the water around it stays clear through the year. Above the surface, the rock is crowded with terns and other seabirds. Guides rate it as a deep dive for divers with some experience, and the currents here can be strong.
