Yawatano Beach
Also known as: 八幡野ビーチ (Japanese)
Entry is by a slope with support ropes, and guide lines on the bottom help with navigation. Boulders give way to more and more sand, and offshore stands a large single rock known as Aji-ne. Frogfish, gobies, nudibranchs and Japanese lumpsuckers live around it, and angel sharks and large flounder are found on the sand. Because the coast faces north-east, it often stays calm when the west wind closes other sites. The deep water off Yawatano sometimes brings deep-sea fish such as anglerfish up to the beach.
