Hirashima
Also known as: 平島 (Japanese)
Mera is a fishing port on the south-west tip of the peninsula, influenced by a branch of the Kuroshio Current. Hirashima lies about five minutes from the harbour, and its steep terrain looks like the coastline continuing under water, with cliffs, V-shaped crevices and caves. Soft corals cover the rocks, and scalefin anthias, grunts, sea bream and schools of yellowtail are thick around them. Sharks, angel sharks and rays are possible. The site is dived as a drift around the rock and suits intermediate and advanced divers.
