Varese
Also known as: Wreck Varese
The Varese was carrying cargo towards Tunisia when bad weather in the northern Adriatic made her captain head for the port of Pula. On the way she entered the minefield, an explosion destroyed her bow and she sank where she lies today. The wreck is about 60 m long, covered in sponges, and the upper deck lies at around 33 m. Large conger eels, scorpionfish and schools of fish are typical, and the open hull allows safe penetration.
