Blake's Reef

Also known as: Blake's

Blake's Reef lies far from other sites, about 24 km south of Lifuka, and its hard corals are described as exceptionally intact. The coral cascades from about 5 m to 25 m before the edges drop away to around 60 m. Whitetip sharks, midnight snappers, tuna and barracuda are seen regularly, together with butterflyfish, groupers, many fusiliers and a big school of batfish. Sweetlips and blue trevally are also part of the scene. Rare sightings of great hammerhead sharks and manta rays have been reported here.
