Black Forest
Black Forest begins at about 35 feet, a few fin kicks from the edge of the Grand Turk Wall. Part of the wall here is undercut, and the resulting shadow lets black coral, which normally avoids strong light and grows much deeper, flourish at roughly 60 to 100 feet. Blue Water Divers counts three different types of black coral on the site, together with impressive sponge growth, and suggests rolling onto your back to see the silhouette of the overhang. Scuba Diving magazine mentions five species of coral, and a diver's trip report praises the black coral and wide fields of deep water gorgonians. Quillfin blennies are among the small fish to look for.
