Amphitheater

Also known as: Amphitheatre

At Amphitheater the shallow back reef starts at about 30 feet, and divers follow a sandy bottom that slopes from about 40 to 80 feet towards the wall. Right at the edge the sand falls away steeply and the wall is cut by a big V-shaped split, a passage out into open water with dramatic outcrops and undercuts on both sides. Scuba Diving magazine describes coral rising very high between deep sand channels. ZuBlu highlights black coral, enormous elephant ear sponges and schools of fish on the drop-off. A diver's trip report also mentions garden eels on the sand and wire coral and gorgonians on the wall.
