SS Milo

Also known as: S.S. Milo

SS Milo was built in 1865 and used by the British during the war to carry supplies to the troops at Anzac Cove near Arıburnu. On 26 October 1915 its hull was filled with concrete to form a breakwater protecting ships off the open beach, and generators on board powered lights for the shore. According to the park, it served this purpose until the end of the campaign and was scuttled during the evacuation. Despite heavy structural damage, much of the hull is still recognisable in only a few metres of water.
