Maria Delle Vittorie and Vincenzo Florio

Also known as: Santa Maria Della Vittoria · Vincenzo Florio · Vincenzo Floria · Tekke Bay (W Beach)

Vincenzo Florio was an Italian steam cargo and passenger ship built at Govan by Alexander Stephen & Sons that had carried Italian troops to Tripoli in the Italo-Turkish War. The British Admiralty requisitioned it in 1915 and scuttled it off Cape Tekke as a floating pier. Beside it lie the remains of the passenger ship Maria Delle Vittorie, whose history is still being researched and which is thought to have been sunk to create a sheltered harbour. The site is one of the shallow wreck dives of the park at W Beach.
