Le Lion de Mer

The Lion de Mer islet lies about five minutes by boat from the Saint-Raphaël clubs and is often used for try dives on its west side. Sandy bottoms, Posidonia meadows and walls range from a few metres to more than 40 m, so the site serves beginners and experienced divers alike. Two statues, a Virgin and a mermaid, stand near an arch lined with yellow encrusting anemones. The highlight is the 'coral vault' on the south face, where the wall is covered with young red coral and small spiny lobsters hide in the cracks. On windy days a side current can be felt along the wall.
