São Macário
The wreck of the São Macário lies in Mindelo's bay and is one of the best known dives of São Vicente. At about 80 m long and no deeper than about 15 m, it is easy to dive and usually has little current. Much of the ship is still in good shape, and its huge propeller is intact, although some parts are starting to break down. Giant pufferfish, colourful nudibranchs, frogfish and large schools of soldierfish, goatfish and grunts live on it.
