Boulders (Flynn Reef)

Divers descend a line to concrete mooring blocks at less than 10 metres and then choose between the wall and the shallows. The sloping wall often has a current running and is covered in stony, mushroom and fire corals, with trevally, Napoleon wrasse and whitetip reef sharks coming in from the blue. In the shallows, sandy channels wind between reef sections where giant clams of up to 2 metres live. Anemones there host the endemic Barrier Reef anemonefish and the orangefin anemonefish, and several kinds of sea cucumber cross the sand. Large bommies give shelter to parrotfish and triggerfish.
