Nord America

Also known as: North America · S.S. Primo

The Italian liner Nord America ran onto Bajo de Fuera in January 1883, and almost all of its passengers survived. The wreck that divers have long visited under this name lies on its side near the bow of the Sirio, with rows of portholes, a rounded stern and a deck gun pointing upwards. Planeta Azul reports that this gun identified the remains as the Italian steamer Primo, lost in 1916, and that the real Nord America is probably the scattered debris known as La Chatarra. Gorgonians and many fish cover the hull. It is a trimix and decompression dive for technical divers only.
