E6
Also known as: E-6
E6 sits in the middle of the narrowest part of the Vatu-i-Ra channel, where it intercepts the nutrient-rich water pushed between Viti Levu and Vanua Levu. Its name comes from the E6 slide film that photographers used up here when the site was first found. The two current-swept flanks draw schooling barracuda, trevally and surgeonfish, with occasional hammerheads and eagle rays, while the lee side is covered in soft corals and gorgonian fans. A highlight is the Cathedral, a large swim-through lined with fans and soft coral trees and lit by sunlight from above. The top of the seamount holds a hard coral garden that makes for an easy safety stop, and on night dives lobsters, arrowhead crabs and flashlight fish appear.
