Kal's Dream
Also known as: Kel's Dream · Batu Mandi
The site is a seamount between Kepa and Pura, known locally as Batu Mandi, the showering stone, because at low tide its top breaks the surface and water pours down its sides with each wave. Air Dive Alor describes two pinnacles, and depending on the tide divers start on one and try to reach the other. Entry is negative, with a quick descent to the mount, and Mermaid notes that it is only dived around slack tide. Dense clouds of anthias and fusiliers hang over the coral, with surgeonfish, snappers and schooling barracuda around them. Grey reef sharks, blacktip sharks and eagle rays are regular visitors, but the current is usually strong and unpredictable, so the site is kept for calm days and experienced divers.
