Dive center Dive HQ Whangarei
Dive Now is based in Whangarei, Northland, and runs boat trips to the Poor Knights Islands in New Zealand. Owned by Whangarei-born Jamie-Lee and Simon, the centre is a short drive from Tutukaka, the gateway to the islands, and takes divers out aboard its own charter boat for two- and three-dive days and scheduled night trips. More than 50 named sites include arches, caves and swim-throughs; Rikoriko Cave is the largest sea cave in the southern hemisphere. The HMNZS Waikato wreck lies in the mid-30-metre range, with its propeller a draw for deeper divers. An indoor heated pool supports training, and freediving courses run in groups of no more than eight students per instructor. Dive Now provides SSI training in scuba, freediving, technical diving and professional pathways, alongside equipment sales and on-site servicing.
