Hon Mun Marine Protected Area (Nha Trang Bay)

Hon Mun Marine Protected Area in Nha Trang Bay was Vietnam's first marine conservation project and protects a cluster of islands with some of the country's most diverse coral reefs.

Hon Mun Marine Protected Area covers about 160 km2 in Nha Trang Bay, Khanh Hoa Province, encompassing Hon Tre, Hon Mieu, Hon Tam, Hon Mot, Hon Mun and several smaller islands. It was established in 2001 as Vietnam's first marine conservation project, developed jointly by Vietnam's Ministry of Fisheries, the Khanh Hoa provincial government and IUCN. The area is notable for coral diversity, with more than 350 recorded hard coral species.
