Wild Side (Milln Reef)

Divers descend a fixed line to concrete mooring blocks at about 12 metres and follow the gently sloping reef from there. The slope is covered in leather, whip and small table corals, with sandy passages holding sea cucumbers, mushroom corals and the odd nudibranch. Juvenile fish, including young barracuda, dominate the fish life together with parrotfish, bird wrasse and butterflyfish. Dives here usually stay above about 16 metres, and surface conditions can be choppy outside the main season. Cairns Dive Adventures notes that few boats dive it because of south-easterly weather.
