Bajo de Piles I
Also known as: Piles I · Bajo de Piles 1
Piles I is an elongated underwater ridge running from west to east, with several routes that suit divers of different experience. Dozens of dusky groupers of every size live here and have grown used to divers, together with moray eels, scorpionfish and small nudibranchs on the walls. Smaller outcrops around the main ridge add variety, such as the Piedra del Frances to the north and the two rocks called Dos Hermanas to the northeast. The large boulders on the northwest side are easy to get lost in. Because the site lies in open water without the shelter of the coast, divers need to watch the current, and eagle rays or sunfish sometimes pass by.
