Rio de Oro Wreck

Also known as: Rio de Oro · Goleta Rio de Oro · Naufragio Rio de Oro

The Rio de Oro is an old wooden schooner lying about 400 m off the tip of the Piedrabuena pier. It rests on silt and is broken into two sections, with bow, stern and frames still recognisable. Because the fine sediment is easily stirred up, good buoyancy control is needed to keep the visibility. Groupers, salmon, crabs and small octopus live on the encrusted timbers.
