White River
Also known as: Aspros Potamos
Before the villages and the dam were built, a river ran down this valley into the sea, and the boulders it carried smoothed the rocks into curves that still shape the dive. Divers walk in from the beach, follow the cliff wall and reach a network of gullies, small caves and swim-throughs, the longest of which runs for 25 to 30 m at only about 5 m, flooded with natural light and lined with pink, purple and orange growth. Some gullies reach 24 m. Groupers sit under the overhangs, yellow-spotted pufferfish cross the sand, wrasse and damselfish crowd the reef top, and turtles may pass between May and September.
