Pierre à la Bague

La Pierre à la Bague is a shoal of several hectares near Planier island, where rocks stand up like giant teeth and form a maze. Many ships ran aground here, and debris of ancient pottery and more recent wrecks are scattered on the bottom. The danger is not the depth but the sea: the site needs flat water with no current, swell or wind, otherwise breaking waves turn everything white. Divers sometimes end a dive at the Planier arch with their stops on this shoal.
