L'Impérial de Terre
L'Impérial de Terre is the rock of the Impériaux group that lies closest to Riou island and belongs to the no-take zone around Riou. Its rugged wall is cut by notches that shelter colourful fixed life, and the water is usually very clear. On the northern face red and white gorgonians grow, some of them carrying the rare Savalia savaglia, a pale yellow, tree-like animal that grows over the fans, while tunnels open at the bottom of the eastern side. An introduced hard coral, Oculina patagonica, forms a small brown patch at about 4 m on the eastern side. Boats can tie up to a mooring buoy on the site.
