Tuffy Canyons

Also known as: Tuffy Rocks · Tuffy · Tuffy Canyon · San Pedro Canyons

Tuffy Canyons, also called Tuffy Rocks, lies right beside Tackle Box Canyons in front of the main channel of San Pedro. It is named after the shrimp boat Tuffy, which broke up here long ago, and pieces of the wreck still lie on the reef. A long, narrow tunnel leads to an opening that looks out over open water, and scattered coral heads and staghorn stands shelter brittle stars, shrimps and crabs. Nurse sharks, eagle rays and turtles visit, and the shallower parts and sandy areas are used for training and snorkelling.
