F.WAVE, Sado Island, Japan. The centre runs diving and eco tours from Sado, with dive sites spread across the island and boat dives on major points using local fishing boats. The sea changes sharply through the seasons: warm water and strong visibility in summer and autumn, then much colder conditions in winter and early spring. North Koura, Kotoura, Mobara, Washizaki, Kitakoura and Mushizaki appear among the main areas, with rich marine life, fish schools, reef-like terrain and good photo opportunities. The centre works in small groups, keeps rental gear serviced every year, and uses new suits, boots and gloves. PADI courses include beginner and step-up training, along with further specialty courses such as the island’s exclusive underwater scooter course, plus snorkelling, try dives, sea kayaking and trekking.
