Rising Sun Dive Centre Zanzibar is based at Bwejuu Beach on Zanzibar’s South East Coast. Groups stay small, with no more than three buddy teams per instructor and smaller groups when needed. Dives are made from a handcrafted mahogany dhow, reaching 65 km of reef. Sponge is a sloping reef at 22–30 m, with barrel sponges and holes where moray eels shelter. Ukwehli starts at 25 m and drops to 40 m, with occasional white-tip reef sharks, rays and large wrasse. Cave 20 is an overhang rather than a cave, where whip rays, shrimp and garden eels can be found. Blue Wall descends from 34 m and is for well-trained divers. PADI and RAID training runs from beginner to Divemaster level, with courses for children and teens.
