Great White Wall
Également connu sous le nom de : White Wall
Divers enter a tunnel in the reef top that opens through a lava tube onto the wall, with an upper exit window for shallower divers and a deeper exit around 22 to 25 m. Below that the wall is covered in white Dendronephthya soft corals that look like snow and turn lavender or purple with depth, and it keeps dropping far past recreational limits. The white colouring comes from corals that lack symbiotic algae and feed on plankton, so they only open when the current runs. Inside the tunnel squirrelfish, soldierfish and morays shelter, while lionfish, nudibranchs and anthias live on the wall and reef sharks, schooling fish and occasional manta rays pass in the blue. Operators publish lists of favourable dates each month because the wall is dived around slack low tide, and without a bottom reference divers need to watch their depth closely.
